About Queensland Musical Theatre

Our passion, Musical Theatre.

Queensland Musical Theatre was founded by Brian and Denise Cahill in June 1984 with the aim of furthering the cultural opportunities for people of all ages in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. Its inaugural production – My Fair Lady – was staged in November of that year. Shortly afterwards QMT's activities spread to all parts of Brisbane and South-East Queensland. Each year QMT stages two major musical productions in Brisbane. Our Artistic Director since 2010, Deian Ping, has had great success in continuing the development of excellence within the company. Most recently in 2024 and 2025 with productions of My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins and Hairspray. In addition to musicals, Gilbert and Sullivan shows, operetta and concert work, QMT has had great success with sung-through musicals such as Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Miss Saigon and Cats.
